Hi All,
Yesterday we fished the beach for some sharks. I am field testing a reel called a Tica 80 R 2- speed Big Game Reel. Tica fishing tackle has been around for many years and has some "reely" good tackle so please take a moment to check them out I also carry them at www.billybones.cc . I was at the beach at 2:30 pm and we set out our bait a 4 lb chunk of fresh Bonito . After about 5 mins in the water about 100 yards off the beach my reel went off... I let her run a bit and set the hook solid. the fight was a mere 10 mins the the Tiger Shark was beached she taped out just a tad under 8 feet and at about #250 lbs.We tagged the Tiger Shark and released her unharmed.
After about another 2 hours we caught some Nurse Sharks and Josh lost a MONSTER SHARK I had another chance on yet a larger shark .My reel went off again the fish was running very hard at one point she stopped to swallow the bait and I then set up hard. It was a solid hard running Shark but after her hard runs I shifted my Tica 80 into low gear and wenched the just under 10 ft Lemon Shark into the beach with ease .The Lemon was already tagged so we cut out the tag to send into NMFS and re-tagged her and let her go. You can see in the pics that she was all bit up beacause she was spawning . We tryed to get the best shots we could because we act fast as to measure and tag n release the sharks as fast as we can. I am very impressed with the Tica 80 ( I have had a Tica 30 2 -speed for about 6 years and it has caught many fish for me) and am further proud to say we may very well be leading the Shorebound Shark Tournament on the east coast .. Check out the Tica reels at www.ticaglobal.com They are a great company with great products and the best is that the Prices are Fair !!
