Capt. Chris Johnson and SeaSquared Charters took regular client Don Rodgers to his favorite hunting ground out in far gulf waters, 65 miles from 7 Mile Marina. Their target was mangrove snapper, gag grouper, cobia and permit. They succeeded in catching large mangrove snapper in the 2 to 4-lb. class, a nice 20-lb. cobia and some small gag grouper. They also hooked and released a couple of 200-plus pound goliath grouper. The goliath problem was wide-spread: they stole untold numbers of baits on their way down plus numerous snapper and grouper on their way up. Shown are Don and his son Sam back at the dock.
